Submissions

Is there a word/length/size limit?

No. However, we ask you keep your work to a reasonable degree of scale. If too long for us, submissions will be anywhere from sent back for revision to outright declined depending on the level of severity.

Does Mayfly pay?

Though we do not pay every contributor, we will select one contributor's work based on merit as decided by the editorial team to receive a $25 prize.

Does Mayfly accept simultaneous submissions?

Yes, but please withdraw your submission by emailing us as soon as possible if you choose to publish your submission elsewhere.

Can I change the work I submitted with an updated draft?

Yes, if there is time, but please submit as final of a draft as possible to begin with, as we will likely be considering your initial submission.

Can I send an updated version of work that was previously rejected?

Revisions of previously rejected work will not usually be considered and will likely be automatically declined unless done so for reasons that substantively add to the work and the nature of revision functions as a part of the work itself. If you make a strong case, it may be considered.
